10 things your brain does that can ruin your day...

  1. CATASTROPHYSING - one small set back and suddenly you're predicting the absolute worst.
  2. PERSONALISATION -  taking responsibility for things that aren't even yours to carry.
  3. ALL OR NOTHING THINKING - my brain is either good or bad, no in between.
  4. MIND READING - assuming you know what others are thinking with zero evidence.
  5. LABELLING - one mistake and I'm a complete failure.
  6. OVER GENERAILISATION - one issue and suddenly it's all ruined.
  7. MENTAL FILTER - only see the negatives while the positives fade in to the background.
  8. DISCOUNTING THE POSITIVES - good things happen but you just brush them off like they don't count.
  9. EMOTIONAL REASONING - just because it feels stormy, doesn't mean it actually is.
  10. SHOULD AND MUST STATEMENTS - carrying these rules around like a weight on your shoulders.

Our Brains love shortcuts but sometimes these shortcuts are traps.

There is good new though....once you can spot these thinking traps you can take a second, step back and challenge it, and then choose a more balanced thought instead.
